Ulcer Drug Used as Abortion Pill

I don't know about you, but I hadn't heard of Women on Waves before. Basically, this is an organization that "operates a mobile clinic on a ship that sails to countries where abortion is illegal." They have the pregnant women board their ship Borndiep, give them an abortion, then drop them back off. Their web site is even courteous enough to provide a map showing the ship's itinerary.

A recent article discusses how WOW promotes the use of an ulcer medication (Misoprostol or Cytotec) as an abortifactant. They state, "We support safe, legal abortion. If this is not available, the safest way to do an abortion is with the medicine ''Misoprostol", and they provide instructions on how to take this medication properly to abort the child. They even compare this form of an abortion to a miscarriage.

Sure it's safe even though "There is the risk of a non successfull [sic] attempt . . . The pregnancy goes on. In that case you will have to travel to a country where abortion is legal or find a doctor you trust." Sure, if I were bleeding heavily and obviously requiring medical treatment immediately because my life was in danger I'd travel to another country.
